My students need art materials to engage in creative activities that will foster their development in motor skills, language development, decision making and inventiveness.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My preschool students are children who are three to five years of age. My school is in sunny San Pedro, California. The children from San Pedro come to school each morning ready to learn and grow. There is never a dull moment in our class; my students are busy bees moving from one interest area to another. They are eager to learn, explore, and experiment with the instructional materials and centers I set up for them. We need more materials for the children to engage with, materials that will foster their interest in technology, literacy, math, science, art, and engineering.
My Project
The art materials will make a difference in my student's learning by allowing them to express themselves through the creation of art.
The children will be gluing, molding, beading, taping the craft tape, colored feathers, collage buttons, collage frames, collage beads and mold and play moon sand.
They will be thinking and problem solving as they create their artwork.
Art strengthens children's critical thinking, problem solving and language development skills. My student's will be using words for colors, shapes, textures, sizes and actions.
By having various resources available to them, my student's are sure to look forward to fun filled days at school.
