My Project
In light of our school recently being hit by an F1 Tornado, this project holds even more significance. I am organizing a project to collect things that keep our kiddos comforted and preoccupied in our school's safe room during the event of a storm “shelter in place” order (tornado warning, etc).
The Hunker Down Project will supply our upwards of 400 students with things to do while "hunkering down".
These items will serve to calm and distract scared students, entertain board students, and even help tie over hungry students who are all waiting out storms. I am collecting everything from weighted blankets to board games; battery-operated lanterns to art supplies. Games include Bingo, Uno, Guess Who, and regular playing cards. Things like decks of card games, board games, art supplies, comfort items, shelf-stable snacks, battery-operated radios, battery-operated flashlights and lanterns, and water, etc. are for our safe room.
