My Project

I’m requesting a class set of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins for my 9th-grade English class. This captivating novel will engage my students and provide them with an opportunity to develop critical thinking and literacy skills through its rich themes of survival, power, and justice.

Having individual copies is essential for my students.

It allows them to closely analyze and annotate the text, participate fully in class discussions, and work at their own pace. Without their own books, students miss out on the full learning experience, especially in a rural school where access to quality resources can be limited.

My goals for this project are to boost my students' reading comprehension and analytical skills by challenging them with complex, engaging material. The Hunger Games will also foster critical thinking about real-world issues like government control and individual choice, while encouraging collaboration through group discussions and projects.

My students are hardworking and resilient, despite facing obstacles such as limited resources. Many come from families who rarely attain higher education, but they are eager to succeed and grow. They deserve the same opportunities as students in more resource-rich schools, and The Hunger Games will give them the chance to engage deeply with literature in a way that resonates with their lives and ambitions.
