Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project offers students a multifaceted learning experience, aiming to deepen their appreciation for the intricate art of handmade crochet while seamlessly integrating math and social-emotional learning (SEL) aspects. Through hands-on practice, students not only develop technical skills but also cultivate the patience, perseverance, and creativity essential for both crochet and life. Moreover, crochet serves as a powerful tool for SEL coping strategies, fostering emotional regulation and stress relief.
As students work independently and collaboratively on their crochet projects, they learn valuable entrepreneurial skills, culminating in a marketplace setup at the program's end.
This marketplace not only showcases their creations but also hones their business acumen, preparing them for the entrepreneurial landscape ahead. By intertwining the art of crochet with math, SEL, and entrepreneurship, this project equips students with a holistic skill set, empowering them to thrive in the dynamic world around them.
