Help me give my students a chance to enhance their learning using technology in the classroom and in their homes. The Chromebooks will help the students to move their learning forward during a global pandemic.
We are a new District Pre-K center in the heart of the Bronx. We had just opened our doors in September 2020, when we were asked to shut down and begin remote learning due to the rising rate of Covid-19. Quickly, teachers made bags filled with art supplies and activity booklets to send home with our students. Now at home, many of our students are struggling to find technology which they can use to join remote learning. Although the school may open up again in the upcoming week, we fear that our lives are now in limbo with schools reopening on one end and abruptly shutting down on the other. In the midst of Covid-19, our school was not able to get the technology necessary to keep our students engaged in their learning during this unprecedented time. While students will need to borrow and take the Chromebooks home to stay remotely engaged, the Chromebooks are necessary for the classrooms as well. Technology is used in the classroom to demonstrate knowledge of the relationship between people, places, and regions in the world. The need for ChromeBooks in our new District Pre-K center and for our bright young stars is essential.
My Project
The technology I have asked for will be used in the classroom while schools are open. During the crisis of Covid-19, when school shut down, the Chromebooks will be sent home and help the students learn from home. Students who do not have technology at home will be able to connect with the teachers to keep moving their learning forward. Since, we at Pre-K begin the foundation of student learning, we are eager to never miss a beat and continuously learn despite the pandemic. Please help make that possible! Amongst the chaos of Covid-19 and low fundings, our new school was not able to gather any technology for the students or our classroom. We are excited to be able to learn about the world using technology at our fingertips.
