My Project

In recent years, there has been a growing recognition of the importance of nature in promoting health and well-being. One manifestation of this trend is the concept of healing gardens, which are designed to provide therapeutic benefits through interaction with plants, natural elements, and sensory experiences. In the context of elementary schools, where children are at a crucial stage of development, healing gardens can play a significant role in enhancing their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Engaging with nature in a garden setting encourages physical activity, such as walking, running, and playing, which contributes to overall fitness and reduces the risk of obesity.

Exposure to natural sunlight in outdoor environments promotes the production of vitamin D, essential for bone health and immune function. Additionally, gardening activities, such as digging, planting, and watering, provide opportunities for children to develop fine motor skills and coordination.

The sensory experiences offered by gardens, such as the sight of colorful flowers, the sound of rustling leaves, and the scent of herbs, can have a calming effect on children's minds, promoting a sense of tranquility and well-being. I have been teaching in this district for over 20 years. I have never witnessed a happier child than one who can learn in space where their needs come first, where they can be the wild, beautiful children that they are.
