The Grinch Who Stole Our Music

My students need an iPod so that they may dance, exercise, and move to music in gym class.

My Students

I am a gym teacher in a high-need school in Brooklyn, and I love my job. I try to come up with fun and different ways for my students to get the exercise that they need and enjoy. More often than not my gym lessons involve music.

Last year I purchased an iPod Nano for use specifically at school.

I also received a Bose iPod dock through generous donors on DonorsChoose, and I used both of these items on a daily basis with all of my classes. I had playlists set up for the kids to do fitness testing, circuit training, dance routines, warm-ups, cool downs, and even games. I had music uploaded specifically for pre-k and kindergarten classes with songs like, "One Little Frog Goes Hop", and "Going on a Bear Hunt". The classroom teachers always tell me how much their students look forward to gym class.

My Project

Last week I was robbed. My bag was stolen while it was sitting directly underneath me at a cafe. I was not negligent with my belongings, and at no point had I walked away from them. I lost everything - including my iPod Nano, because, as luck would have it, I was taking it home that evening to add a holiday playlist to it. For now the music in gym class has stopped because of this horrendous act. The silence in gym is a set-back to the wonderful system that my students and I had grown so accustomed. Please do not let the criminal act of one person ruin gym for 400 students. This person may have stolen my bag, but he actually robbed fun, motivation, and enjoyment from so many others.

Right now I am doing my best to keep the energy in gym class high, but I simply cannot do many of the activities that my students have come to love.

I am asking for an iPod Classic to replace the iPod Nano that was stolen. Please note that I am requesting an iPod Classic because the new design of the iPod Nano is not compatible with my Bose dock. Thank you for your time and consideration.
