Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school's environmental club, The Green Team, wants to expand our program for greater success and a larger, more positive environmental impact.
My students live in an urban, high poverty community in Central New jersey.
They are children who are excited to try new things and are all particularly excited to join in the efforts of The Green Team to recycle as much as possible. They are eager to do good deeds to help out both the school and the environment.
My Project
The Green Team has been in operation since April 2011. This is our second full year and we are looking to really expand the club and the items we collect so that we can really make a positive environmental impact. The collection bins we are requesting will help increase the visibility of our group and also allow us to efficiently and effectively collect recyclable materials.
Environmental causes are near and dear to my heart so I was immediately aware that no such efforts were in place at our school when I arrived.
The Green Team has raised awareness on this important issue and has given children a deeper understanding of the power we all have to make a difference.
