The Greatest Gift Is A Passion For Reading

Help me give my students the opportunity to study a wonderful novel. My goal is to get these kids excited about reading and exploring good books. This will encourage them to continue their reading and grow as readers.

My Students

My classroom contains 90 wonderfully unique 4th graders (3 class periods with 30 students at a time). My classes love reading and excel at it. They are perfectly content just sitting in their chairs reading a good book and ask to go to the library often!

This group of kids can do amazing things when they put their minds to it.

They are constantly surprising me with their abilities. Many of them are learning English as their second language, and they refuse to let that slow them down. They jump in and accomplish any task that is put in front of them.

My Project

This book will give students the opportunity to read a good book cover to cover and explore the novel as a class. As a Title I school, many of our students are not fortunate enough to have their own personal library collection at home.

I am hoping to spark the joy of reading in my students when I expose them to a variety of novels.

"James and the Giant Peach" is a wonderful novels that the students will really enjoy. I am excited about the opportunity to read more books with the kids. We will also enjoy really digging into the text and learning more about ourselves as readers.
