The Great Cupcake Challenge

My students need books on the theme of cupcakes, If You Give A Cat A Cupcake book and puppet, Valentines Day bookmarks, muffin tins and a muffin hook rug kit.

My Students

I have a great group of students who love challenges. The majority of the materials created for this project is for a book challenge I will pose to my students during the month of February.

This year I am teaching a second/third grade combination class.

I am really enjoying my class. My new second graders are amazing, hardworking, inquisitive students. My third graders, all whom I have taught before, are independent, smart and amazing! How can I go wrong with this combination of students?

My Project

My students need books on the theme of cupcakes, If You Give A Cat A Cupcake book and puppet, Valentine's Day bookmarks, muffin tins and a muffin hook rug kit. I have asked for a variety of books on the theme of cupcakes. I will challenge my students to read 14 books during the month of February. Since these books all have a cupcake theme, I have asked for supplies so we can make cupcakes as a reward for completing the challenge. The If You Give A Cat A Cupcake book and puppet will be used in our library so students can retell the story. The bookmarks and hood rug kit will be used at centers during our Valentine's Day celebration.

My students are very competitive.

They love to challenge themselves, and they love when I give them a goal. I know my students will love this new cupcake challenge and will love to read the books, knowing their reward will be a culminating celebration by making cupcakes and talking about our favorite books.
