This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My 8th-grade students love suspense, mystery, and all things spooky or out of the ordinary. Unfortunately, reading isn't always on the top of that list! We have been reading suspenseful short stories and poems and they are all in.
By donating to this project, you will allow my students to read a book they are interested in, and hopefully help me spark the reading bug in them before they take off to high school.
The Graveyard Book will be used to complete a novel study. Since most of my 8th graders read between a 4th and 6th-grade level, we will dive into this book at school as a class, in small groups, and with partners. Students will use the novel to cover ELA standards, and with some support, fingers crossed, grow a love for reading.
