This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach first-grade in an inner city TITLE I school. My children are eager to learn and they love to write! In the course of the school year, my students write several different pieces that go into a writing portfolio. They are always adding to their work.

My class needs large glue sticks for the various projects and assignments that we do in all subject areas. Cutting and pasting is still a skill that needs to be explicitly taught. With budget cut backs, glue sticks and school glue are in short supply. Glue sticks were on the September supply list and some families were unable to contribute. The glue that the children brought in is just about out. Please help replenish our supply! We also need an electric stapler that can handle a large amount of paper. This would allow students to keep their writing work bound with ease.

Please help us keep our work organized! You will make it possible for my first graders to add to their assignments and keep it organized with the electric stapler. Another writing strategy that encourages the students to add to their work is to cut their writing, add more details and glue the writing together!

Your generosity will allow the children to work on various assignments, as well as art projects, that need glue sticks and school glue. The students use glue on a daily basis and we'll soon be out of our supply. Please help us with the glue that binds the class in so many ways!
