Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are Latinos in Action high school students. Many are language learners and first generation. These students are Math and Literacy tutors at two elementary schools nearby. They also volunteer at parent teacher conferences. They volunteer to guide parents around their students' classes and many times they need my Latinos in Action students to translate for them.

Our students' mission is to be college and career ready and to be a good influence in the community.

I teach them to organize social and service activities to reach out to everyone in our school who may need a place or group to belong.

My Project

One of the biggest fears of any person is to speak in public and hold a microphone.

It is my dream to have each of my students practice using a microphone with the portable speaker I have requested so they will receive a listening ear from all around them.

I want to empower my students with the gift of sharing their voices.

Also, my students prepare social and service activities for the student body each month and would love to have a portable speaker of our own to brighten the mood with music. I have my students practice listening to appropriate music and choosing playlists.

Unfortunately we always need to borrow a music device from student council. They are so kind to let us use it, but we have many activities and need one of our own.
