Help me give my students the gift of HIGH-INTEREST READING! My students have time in class to read books THEY CHOOSE, but we need books for them to select.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Rimmer's classroom raised $281

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have great kids! They're the kind of kids who will hold a door open for you or help you carry a box without asking. They may not have much money, but they are smart, polite and creative.
We like to do engaging outside-the-textbook work.
In our class, we like to read plays, do projects, research our family histories, create vision boards and explore the world through Virtual Reality.
My students are most drawn in when the work is relevant to their personal experience.
My Project
Reading is fundamental to educational success, but too many students come to me without the habit of independent reading. Students NEED to read as much as possible to increase fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, grammar, mechanics, background knowledge of the world, etc. but, I need to provide books that interest them right here in the classroom to make that happen.
High-interest books inspire students to READ MORE, and, when students read more, they achieve more.
I provide my students with Books Talks, student choice, class time to read, and guided discussions. What we need from you are the actual books...books that will capture their varied interests.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
