This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am honored and humbled to have the opportunity to play a part in shaping the future of 165 students. I have fallen in love with the way my students appreciate everything they are given. It has made me a better person and teacher. This motivates me to try to expose them to as many opportunities as I can. Their determination is truly special and it has inspired me to teach them new things for the next generation of pioneers.

I want to remind them that success is not a number!

On paper, 94% of my students are economically disadvantaged, 40% of them are English language learners, and 13% have a learning disability, this is not who they are.

Our school is located in an impoverished neighborhood, but their eagerness to come to school and learn is contagious and they are encouraged to rise above their circumstances.

My Project

During distance learning, I want to find creative ways to connect with my students virtually. I miss those moments when I walked over to their desks and placed a sticker, award, or incentives are not possible during this time.

It feels good when someone recognizes something you do and in a virtual learning environment, this is more important than ever.

A little encouragement goes a long way. With your help, I will be able to use Amazon gift cards as a way to reward my students' hard work and encourage others to reach for the stars. Also, these tokens of connection will help to increase attendance, engagement, and participation.
