My Students

I am excited about the students I teach this year! I work at Ranson IB middle school, which is a Title I school in Charlotte, NC. The majority of my students come from low-income households and deal with personal hardships. I want to provide enough resources in my classroom so every student can have an extraordinary education. My students are 7th grade mathematicians who are ready to excel. I love that my students do not let their circumstances define them.

My Project

My students love to play games and they love technology! I have decided to "gamify" my classroom; students independent work time will be a game of different mastery levels. Some of these levels are meant to be played online to get the full experience. It would be great for my students to have headphones and tablets to support this experience. Additionally, I frequently allow the class to write on the desks, in lieu of pencil and paper. This encourages them to express themselves creatively, while still mastering the necessary skills. Lastly, you can never have enough pencils! My students need pencils for assignments that do require being on paper.
