My Students
Our school, located in a rural Georgia area, is an amazing mixture of students from a wide variety of economic and ethnic backgrounds. As a Title-1 elementary school, a large percentage of our student base comes from low-income families. These students often come to school with few or no school supplies. We also have students in our school from very affluent homes, where the supplies and possibilities are endless.
As a first year teacher, I want to create a classroom that is both exciting and fulfilling to my students.
I want students, regardless of their backgrounds or even where they came from that particular morning, to feel prepared, to have the supplies they need, and to have the "extras" that will make learning a rewarding experience each and everyday.
My Project
I want my classroom to be filled with items that make learning interesting and provide real world connections. It excites my heart to imagine building a classroom that my students want to come into every single day. I want the students to be comfortable, safe and excited to learn! As a first year teacher, my resources are limited. However, I do not want my classroom to be any less useful than that of a veteran teacher. Resources including hands on materials, interactive wall elements, and basic school supplies will make my classroom one that is effective, ready, useful and exciting!
