My Project
Drone soccer is an amazing new esport that our students now enjoy at our school. Drone soccer is an indoor team sport played with drones that are in protective exoskeletons designed for collisions. Two teams face off in a netted arena where they ram and block the opposing team to prevent them from scoring, “Basically, it’s Quidditch with drones”. Before pilots can compete, they must first learn to build, program, fly, and repair high-performance drones, learning engineering skills toward exciting careers in aviation and engineering. With this being our first year of this program, there are some needs that our program needs in order to be more successful. These things include soccer turf, storage bins, referee whistles, and colored masking tape.
Soccer turf will provide the means to properly mark the field according to specifications and help to give additional protection to the drone on the hard surface.
The addition of portable storage bins for the drones will give the means necessary for this team to be able to compete with other schools in the future. The purchase of tape will help students effectively mark their done for identification when they are in flight. The addition of referee whistles will lend an opportunity for students to be trained in proper referencing of drone soccer while observing the game. This will free me up to administer coaching to individual team members. Please consider the opportunity to help provide these tools to help drone soccer become more successful at the School of the Arts.
