My Students

"Si se puede," which translates to "Yes we can," is a quote that our bilingual program and students are dedicated to follow. Our students are striving to become bilingual yet are not provided with a variety of resources that would provide additional support to our program. Help us achieve our goals!

My students are a group of Spanish dominant students who are striving to become bilingual.

They are facing poverty every day yet come to school dedicated to learn and achieve higher education. The look in their eyes shows heart yet also expresses worry, which comes from trials and tribulations they deal with in their community. Through all their troubles, they continue to stay motivated and are always eager to learn new concepts every day. Our school is on the west side, 90% of our students live in poverty and are classified as at-risk. Our students appreciate any resources that will provide additional support in our bilingual program. Not only do our students have to overcome poverty yet they also are lacking resources to help them become bilingual. Please help our community grow by planting the seeds in our younger generation.

My Project

First and foremost, our students would benefit from these resources because it will enhance their self-esteem. It is difficult when our bilingual students have a limited classroom library yet see the monolingual students with a wide variety of literature. If we build our library, it will allow the bilingual teachers to monitor their reading levels and provide the students with readers that are at their levels. It is difficult to build their fluency when students are trying to read readers that are too easy or too difficult. These books would help the students build their fluency and comprehension. To some people books are just books but for our students they are a path to success and to higher education.

Donations will make a huge difference for my bilingual students.

In today's society, it is beneficial for our students to become bilingual yet we lack resources that will allow the students to achieve their full potential. Although lacking resources is not the only challenge our students are facing, it will decrease the challenges they are faced at school. Please help our students reach their goals and overcome the obstacles they are faced with everyday. Thank you for your time. "Si se puede."
