This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a span school, serving students in grades 6-12. We are in an urban neighborhood. Many of our students immigrated from another country or are the children of immigrants. Many of my students will be the first in their families to graduate from high school.

My students are college-bound, highly motivated, hard working and dream of success.

They are awesome! They are nearly all from lower socioeconomic status but have the endurance to make it to 12th grade and most aim to go to college and get a degree. They dream of becoming everything from doctors to teachers to lawyers and entrepreneurs.

My Project

A robotic vacuum cleaner will make a big difference in my students' learning and education. Students learn more when there are fewer distractions. A dirty floor is very distracting. It's also really bad for students with asthma and allergies. Clean floors help students succeed, instead of keeping them home sick. It also gives them pride in their school and class.

I want to have clean floors every day so that my students enjoy coming to class even more than they already do!

A clean classroom floor is welcoming and inviting, whereas a dirty floor gives the impression that the teacher doesn't care about the classroom or the students.

Every day they come in to class there is dirt on the floor (unless I have swept it up myself before class started.) I don't mind sweeping the floor except that I could be using that time tutoring students, making photocopies, meeting or calling parents, or doing other essential tasks that help my students learn. Please help me keep the floors clean, while allowing me to multitask and increase student learning.
