My Students
My students from Mesa, Arizona are young children eligible for special education services. This program gives 3-5 year old children with delays in motor, communication, socialization, cognitive, and adaptive skills an early opportunity to learn and thrive within a classroom full of motivation to learn.
By using highly motivating and engaging materials and activities, my students can learn to attend to the teacher, socialize with peers, and learn early communication that will start the foundation needed to learn within a K-12 program in the future.
My Project
As we all do all we can to bridge the gap in learning between those with disabilities and those without there is one area where the gap continues to widen... technology. In the future belongs to those that are good with technology. Let's make sure those with special needs have a fighting chance! Although technology is used to help my students communicate, navigate their classroom, and access their environment they often aren't taught how to use technology beyond these areas. Help my students take that first step to learning how to use a computer for information and learning by providing them a touchscreen monitor to go with their desktop computer.
This touch monitor coupled with my software teaching early computer skills can get my preschool students a great jump on their future technology use.
