it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are kind, thoughtful, and full of energy as they join my classroom each morning! They attend school each day ready to take control of their learning as they grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
My Project
I am a 5th grade Title I Math teacher! I'm moving from a virtual classroom to in-person next year and need classroom supplies and decor for my three rotating classes.
I really want a relaxed and organized environment that supports learning and a love for Math.
I have many items listed to assist in accomplishing my goal of teaching students that we all can grow in Math! Flexible seating such as stools and floor stadium seats will allow students to sit comfortably around the room. The fluorescent light filters will reduce harsh glare in the classroom. Harsh glare and flickering lights can cause eyestrain, headaches, and even anxiety! I plan to have a Space/Star Wars themed classroom! Star Wars and my love for gaming is how I relate to my students and build relationships as a mentor and educator. I will incorporate coding and real world problem solving in our day to day activities with the use of the Spheros. "The use of Block- and text-based code and an engaging community make programming accessible to all." (-Common Sense Media) I also plan to use many of the supplies listed for students to build Math notebooks. I will use the sensory toys for students that have trouble focusing and for our Class Dojo incentives. Push-lights will allow students to communicate with me when they have questions/answers or during game time. I know the students will love their classroom and take ownership in their learning and growth. I can't wait for this next adventure!
