My amazing students make up one of four fifth-grade classrooms in a diverse school of about six hundred students and one of two inclusion rooms. Together, we are part of the largest elementary school in our district.
These incredible fifth graders come to school fully trusting me to provide them with opportunities to grow and succeed.
With working in an inclusion classroom, we have a variety of needs, from low performing academic to behavioral needs. These students deserve a learning environment that matches their needs, creative lessons that challenge their thinking and continuous support to prepare them for the future. It is my goal to make sure I have all of these things in place so they can reach their full potential.
My Project
I am always trying to incorporate students' interests into our daily lessons; this makes learning more fun and engaging. Recently, my class has shown an interest in the show, "The Floor Is Lava".
I would love to see the looks on my student's faces as they enter a life-size scene of "The Floor Is Lava".
I would use the red table clothes to cover the floor, the steppers to place around the room, the game to add additional touches, and the hot potato as a way to determine the time limit/who to call on. Our classroom would have to maneuver around the classroom to complete questions and tasks.
I can only imagine it would be a day that they talk about for a long time.
