My Students

My English, Creative Writing, Film as Literature & Journalism students are smart, inquisitive and enter the classroom every day with high expectations for their learning experience. I always remind my students that I believe in them and that they can do anything they set their minds to.

I teach at a Title I school in North Carolina where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Many of my students struggle with hardships outside of school but still remain focused on doing their best because they want to be successful. They enjoy the opportunities of educational exploration outside of the classroom and building a foundation for critical thinking.

My Project

Students are looking for ways to express their film making talents and the Mac would afford them the opportunity to see their scripts come to life. Students will use the Mac to download their videos and edit using Final Cut Pro HD. They will develop editing skills that they can use inside and outside of the classroom.

Students will be able to edit their videos to produce high quality films that could possibly be submitted to film festivals and other competitions.

It would give them exposure and opportunities beyond the classroom. This will be the beginning of a career for many students at the high school.
