This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Throughout the school year, our class sizes have grown tremendously. At the start of the year, we had around 20 students, in each class, and enough calculators. However, our class size continues to grow. We welcome everyone into our classroom and in turn, want everyone to feel welcomed. This tends to not be the case when we begin working on mathematical computations that require a calculator and we do not have enough. Each day we fall short, which requires some students to wait for the use of a calculator by borrowing it from a neighbor. This leads to unnecessary downtime for the waiting student, time for the students to argue about sharing, or not sharing, the class calculator, etc. These are the little details that seem small from the outside but are a big deal in the classroom. We want all our students to be prepared and ready to work on their assignments independently. However, how can we really do that if we do not provide our students with the tools they need for success?
