The Explorers Mission: Strong Word Builders, Decoders and Writers!
Help me give my students 2 magnetic letter sets, 12 magnetic write and wipe boards, 30 wipe-off pockets, 2 giant magnetic write-and-wipe pages & a set of write-and-wipe markers to build phonics skills.
These magnetic letters, boards, wipe off charts, pockets, storage caddies, and markers will create a fun and exciting way of building strong phonics, decoding and writing skills for these explorers. The magnetic letters will be used to build and make new words. My students will be able to substitute, isolate, and segment different (consonant) sounds by exchanging and replacing letters. In addition, they will be able to blend, spell, and read words. Using these letters will also help them to build fine motor skills as they manipulative the letters. The Explorers have shown a great interest in magnetic letters and are excited about using them.
The write and wipe items like the magnetic boards and giant charts will help them to practice and build their writing skills as some students find it difficult to manage a pencil with the right pressure.
This is another activity that builds fine motor skills and helps them meet OT goals. The caddies and storage pockets will help them to keep the write & wipe pockets and markers organized and easily accessible. These materials have been selected especially for their accessibility and to create student engagement. My Explorers are on their way to becoming great 21st century readers and writers!
