This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is a small public school in an under-served area that seeks to enable students to succeed. Our focus areas are strong community learning, high standards of excellence, innovative curriculum, and personal attention.
These students are learning to explore and express their knowledge in various ways while learning to use technology. This year, they're learning to create video presentations to inform the school and community of content knowledge (especially Science) and social justice issues. The videos will presented in class, shown at our Academic Exhibition, and made available online.
The students have already learned basic computer skills at school. However, in order to learn how to edit their videos, they need headphones and microphones. With these supplies, my students will be able to complete their projects at school, a necessity because most of them do not have computers at home. The technology will also allow students access during school to a variety of online and software-based resources that will improve reading, language fluency, typing skills, and content knowledge.
When you supply these materials, you will enable these traditionally under-served students to learn technology skills that will open the door to college and advanced career paths. Thank you for your support!
