This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic and amazing kids from the south side of Chicago. Most of the kids I teach are faced with challenges in their lives, both at home and at school. As their music teacher, I hope to help my students by encouraging them to express themselves in positive ways.

My students love music class because they get a chance to share a creative experience with their peers.

Our school is running on a barebones budget, and funding for the arts is just not there. Your donation would help to provide a quality musical experience for deserving students.

My Project

In this project, I am requesting a set of marching tenor drums for our student drumline ensemble.

Our middle school drummers are talented, dedicated, and deserve the best.

My students are SO fired up about drumline. This is the first year we will be offering it as an after-school activity, and kids are clamoring to get in. If we had more drums, more kids will have the opportunity to join the group.

The group is really looking forward to performing for athletic events at the school. We have also been invited to perform at a community 5K race. This ensemble would not exist if it wasn't for the Donors' Choose community, who donated the equipment we needed to get up and running!

Many more performances are on the horizon for this great ensemble, and all of our music calls for tenor drums. Please help us to sound great!
