My students need DNA kits to test their DNA in order to discover their ancestry, and learn about their culture!

My Students
Every child has a story, but so do their shoes. Bright colors, brand new, white and black rubber soles...for the most part; but then you also have the students in the shoes they wore last year or their brother's/sister's hand me downs or whatever the shoe's story may be. I have looked at their shoes and I have always been reminded, to put yourself in their shoes, walk a mile in their shoes. Every year children bring a new gift to my life; this group will be the first group to embark on a new adventure with me, and I couldn't be excited to see how much of an impact I can make on this group of students.
My Project
These DNA kits will help my students learn about their past. They will be researching based on the information gathered, and creating cultural art based on the location of their ancestry. This is meant to provide cultural awareness and appreciation to my students.
I hope that this project instills not only a sense of curiosity, but a sense of pride and wonder in each student.
I want my students to feel a connection with where they came from, and hope that this inspires them to create beautiful art based on their heritage and cultures. This project has the chance to change a child's life!
