My Students
This year, "Leave your mark on the world," is the class motto in my "The Day You Begin" themed classroom.
I firmly believe these kids will leave their mark on the world.
My second-grade students are future world changers with an amazing set of skills. Within this group, you'll find the questioner with the power to inquire about anything and everything; the informer, who uses life experiences and book knowledge to keep us in the know; the reinforcer, who reminds us of content knowledge and connects it to the real world; the dreamer, who tells us about the endless possibilities; the captain, who keeps the class motivated and at times, in line; and a host of others, making them the most powerful team around.
My Project
Each year I choose a different book or series as the theme for my classroom and its decor. This year I have chosen, "The Day You Begin," by Jacqueline Woodson. I chose this book because of the beautiful way it celebrates diversity and encourages kids to find their voice. I was also drawn to the stunning illustrations that transport you to a brilliant watercolored world.
On the day my students begin school, I want them to feel empowered by a room whose beauty matches their own, both inside and out, and inspired to achieve academic greatness throughout the year.
Therefore, I have selected a watercolor theme to make this a reality. With beautiful decor and inspirational messages throughout, I know that the day they begin and each day after will be beautiful!
