Help me give my students an experience with the cycle of life by using an AquaSprouts Garden, a terrarium, a betta kit, and other important science resources.
Middle schoolers are struggling. We are still recovering from COVID and all of the after-effects. They need that connection that comes from interacting with and caring for living things.
There are so many benefits to having living things in the classroom.
The AquaSprout Garden, power filter, terrarium, and heater will be used to show the students how living things depend on each other in an environment. Having plants and animals in the room can also help with developing social skills as they apply new ways of learning and responsibility as they care for the animals. They will develop their self-esteem and work on companionship as they work together. This will also help with their mental and emotional growth while encouraging them to be nurturing as they care for goldfish and betta fish.
I love my students and I want them to feel those connections. These resources go along with our science core as they learn about living systems and environments, but I think most of the benefits will come from the social aspects of observing and caring for these creatures.
