Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In this unique art workshop, students will have the opportunity to develop their creativity by exploring a variety of skills such as sewing, painting, clay modeling and book-making. In an encouraging collaborative setting, students will inspire each other by giving and receiving constructive feedback on their work.
The emphasis of this class is learning about the creative process through mini-lessons, DIY (Do It Yourself) demonstrations and opportunities for personal reflection and evaluation.
Students will learn that continuing to engage their creativity and imagination beyond the classroom will benefit their mental and emotional well-being.
Many of the students at Sierra Vista High School are a group of highly creative individuals who thrive in an alternative school setting. Among the current group in this class are students who weld, sew costumes; repurpose and transform clothing, shoes, and stuffed animals, and create unique mixed-media instillations just to name a few.
Students in the WUHSD are underserved in the arts. It surely is worth the investment to give this class of creators the tools they need to soar!
