My Project

In today's world of screens, digital communication skills are critical for students. According to Northeastern University, most businesses say that at least 80% of their customer interactions happen digitally and those businesses are seeking employees who are skilled in digital communication. The job outlook for Film and Video Editors and Camera Operators is expected to grow by 7% (which is faster than average) in the next six years (www.bls.gov/ooh). Students in our High School courses, including a new Digital Media Design & Production course, will have the opportunity to learn these skills with the help of the tools requested in this project.

Help us to build a Digital Media Studio at our High School where students and staff can tell the stories of Cougar Nation and broadcast those stories throughout and beyond Scott County, Illinois.

The soundproofing panels will create a quieter space for audio recording. The audio mixer, mics, cables, and headphones will be used for audio recording. The Apple iPad, keyboard case, and Pencil will be used more for the editing and production of the media.

We plan to expand on our current YouTube channel and livestreaming as well as add in podcast(s), featuring all aspects of the school and local communities such as FFA, CTE, athletics, academics, clubs, service, and more! We also plan to use our equipment and learning experiences to create advertisements for local businesses! Students will have hands-on learning and be introduced to various careers within the Media and Communication career field.
