Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Save us from sitting on the cold floor! My classroom will be filled with 28 children this year all trying to sit on a little old rug. They try to squeeze together so they don't have to sit on the hard cold floor, which usually causes many distractions and arguments of being to close to one another.
I have 28 first grades who come from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Many of which have many financial hardships at home. My school is a large school that tries to help families and nurture all of our kids different learning needs. We try to make our school community a place where our kids can feel like they are at home.
My Project
If my classroom had a new larger rug it would make my children more comfortable which I believe would foster the learning process. This new rug would give them more room to spread out and not be bother by someone sitting to close to them. It would be a meeting place for all the children during time of instruction. It would also be a quiet comfortable place for a child to sit and read. There are some children that find it uncomfortable to sit in a chair to read or do work. This rug would provide a new area in the classroom for a child to go expand their minds and focus on their academics.
I believe that a classroom should be a warm welcoming environment, where children want to go each day.
If my classroom had this new brightly colored, inviting rug I think my kids would think of there classroom as a second home. They deserve the best so they can be their best!
