My Project
My first-grade students come from a diverse background, community, and are proud of who they are. We are always talking about what makes us unique and special, inside and out.
In their work, they want to show themselves and their peers the beautiful and varied skin tones they have.
Providing my students with crayons, colored pencils, and markers in a wide variety of skin tones will allow them to feel they are illustrating their true selves. "We are not black, white, and brown." They frequently ask for the variety of skin tone colors, and increasing my supply will help them to do so more freely.
