This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The Colors of Us is a Cultural and Diversity project. Our classroom is a diverse room full of unique and diverse cultures. The students in my room need to understand and embrace our differences and differences and still feel special. By understanding cultural differences, we become more accepting of our community and the people around us. This project, which spans over many months, includes experiences that will provide my class with a study of culture and the diversity it brings. The project includes reading a multitude of multicultural texts, a video production, self portraits, learning the music and attire of many different countries, and will culminate with a cookbook project in which families cook and share their families traditional dishes! It is a full on community project in which the students remember and cherish as they join and become an integral part of the real world around them!
