My Students

Can you imagine walking into an art room without color? Together my students and I explore ideas though a world of art. However, my students are only able to see these ideas in black and white.

I teach art in a very low-income, high energy Middle School.

Many of my students face difficult home situations, homelessness, gangs, drugs on the streets, and other problems that I don't remember ever being an issue when I was a student. Because of this, it's difficult for me to go into the classroom and stress to kids the importance of art in their lives, but it's because of their community situation, that makes me want to give them the gift of art more than ever before.

My Project

Many of my student's minds are filled with creative and vigorous ideas they would love to incorporate into their work. With a color printer in my classroom, I'll be able to bring their ideas to "life"! Students will see their photography and images in print with the use of a color printer. student

This project is important because I want to show my love of art to my students.

They need to see that there is beauty in the world, not just violence. I want to be able to demonstrate ways for them to express themselves through the arts, as opposed to fighting. With your help, I can do this for my students. Thank you in advance for your kind donations.
