This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are a group of 8th graders who are at various reading and academic levels in a Title I school. We are currently exploring the concept of the hero's journey and the challenge to make a difference in our society through various texts and media. The graphic novel version of The Giver will engage all readers and will make it easier to access the Common Core Standards as they will use it as an accompaniment to the novel. Having access to this graphic novel will also help promote my schools literacy goal.
