My Project
I love how resilient, curious, and kind my students are. Each one brings something special to our classroom, whether it’s a unique way of thinking, a caring heart, or a determination to grow—even when things feel hard. Many of my students face challenges outside the classroom that can affect their ability to focus and learn. That’s why I want to create a calming corner—a safe, welcoming space where they can take a break, self-regulate, and return to their day with renewed energy and confidence.
Soft seating like bean bags or floor cushions offers comfort and helps students feel physically safe and relaxed.
Fidget tools, sensory bottles, and stress balls allow students to release tension in a quiet, productive way. Weighted lap pads or stuffed animals provide calming pressure and a sense of security. Visual aids like emotion charts and calming strategy posters guide students in understanding and managing their feelings. Even simple touches like soft lighting, quiet music, or a sand timer can help a student feel grounded in the moment.
These resources aren't just "extras"—they're essential tools that empower students to take control of their emotions, build self-awareness, and return to their work more focused and ready to learn. Supporting this project means supporting every student’s emotional well-being, which is the foundation of academic success.
