A calculator is an essential tool for solving many types of math problems and is critical to delivering some math lessons in the classroom.
My students are typical seventh grade students at a CT middle school.
This is a diverse group of students from a wide range of social and economic backgrounds, not all of the children have access to all the resources necessary for an optimal classroom experience.
My Project
While it may sound pretty basic, trying to deliver a class lesson that requires the student to utilize a calculator when not every one has access to one or has to share with another student can really diminish the effectiveness of the classroom time and can impact the child's comprehension of the lesson.
Being able to provide a calculator to each of the children in my classroom when it is necessary to the lesson will allow my students to maximize the time they spend learning.
Just imagine if in your work you had to stop and wait for a tool or share one with a colleague while both of you required it to complete your assignment, how your productivity would be impacted?
