Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students on our campus have amazing potential. They are waiting to be guided and eager to learn. As the school year progresses, the potential for success awakens and I would definitely love to offer my students books to have at home while together virtually we will be able to have in depth discussions. My students have limited experiences and are from low socioeconomic backgrounds. They just need that one individual willing to invest and believe in their ability to unlock their potential. They have dreams for a better future. Through the use of technology, and books I will request, I will be able to offer them a virtual experience that awaits them.
My Project
Coming from low socioeconomic city, where parents have to pick between the next meal and books to read, it is apparent the decision that parents make. In purchasing these novels students will experience hands on reading. We will use this novel as a mentor read throughout the school year. Most of my students do not have the financial security that allows for them to own books at home. For some of them this will be their first owned book. Therefore, this purchase will allow for the possibility of creating lifelong readers.
