The Blended ʻUkulele

Help me give my students the opportunity to play the ukulele outside of our limited class time.

My Project

I have been working on increasing our schoolʻs ʻukulele inventory so that each of my 6th graders can check out an ʻukulele for the school year. I have created a digital curriculum that can be used both in class and accessed from home - a blended classroom. My students benefit immensely by having the opportunity to play and practice outside of the classroom rather than being limited to the 45 minute class they get every week and a half.

I am currently short a few instruments due to a sudden increase in enrollment this year.

I would like to be sure that I have enough instruments for all of my students plus a few extra for students that will arrive throughout the school year. The carrying cases will provide a safe way for students to transport their instruments from school to home, and back. I have also included tuners in this project to help maintain a satisfactory inventory for use in the classroom so that each child will be able to utilize a tuner during class.

I service military children that have moved quite a distance from their families. Introducing them to the ʻukulele helps to provide a sense of place and connection to Hawaiʻi as well as building their sense of community through music making. I appreciate your kōkua (help) in connecting our military keiki while they live here in the islands.
