My sixth grade class is an integrated co-teaching model comprised of thirty students with and without disabilities.
My students are open-minded, kind, empathetic, compassionate, and excited to learn when they come into the classroom.
Books are transformative and greatly impactful to their lives. They love to read, and they are known for getting sucked into a good book. They are always hungry to get more great books to read, and are always asking for recommendations for what to read next!
My Project
Throughout the last two years, I have been working on growing the special education library at our school. Through a past project, I was able to provide my students with a plethora of graphic novels (many of which went home with students on the last day of school prior to our closure due to COVID-19).
We are currently running out of space for our books!
As a result, I wanted to create this project to not only give us more room to store our books, but to also make them mobile via a book cart! This would allow me to transport books from my space to the various other classrooms that I work in.
