This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have noticed that many of my students struggle with some foundational skills in my Algebra 2 Class. Going into my third year of teaching now, I have been wanting to find an effective way to help provide precursors to each unit that I distribute to my students. I picked up these two books when they first came out, and as a recent graduate at the time, thought these would be cool to have in the classroom as a class set. I enjoyed how visual and fun these two books were and thought my students would appreciate seeing text with some fun colors and pictures to help them learn these topics better.
So far I have been using the chapters from the book I own to help make guided doodle notes.
I have seen growth in my students foundational skills in just the past 3 weeks. Students enjoy taking notes and I have actually seen them use their notes to navigate new problems they encounter.
I plan on continuing to use notes from these books to help students gain the preliminary skills that are helpful in understanding grade level content.
