My Students
Hey everyone,
I have been a first grade teacher in a
Tier 1 school in the South Bronx for 5 years, and absolutely LOVE IT!! Our school is located in the highest poverty-stricken area of the Bronx. The population consists of mostly foreign students and English Language Learners. While we face many obstacles daily serving our population of students, our school community encourages students to be independent leaders. Our mission for all students to be "healthy, happy, and peaceful". I model my passion for literacy, in hopes that it also inspires students to enjoy learning as much as I enjoy teaching and learning from them.
My Project
This year I am excited to create a literacy space in my classroom where students can have the option to read away from their desk! This couch will provide students with a safe, comfortable, and fun place to read during reader's workshop. In this literacy space students will have the opportunity to read independently or with a partner.
I hope that it will make reading time much more exciting and as a result inspire students to find a safe and great space to read when they are away from school.
