This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first graders are eager learners and innovators. Aside from being a Title I school, we are a STEAM school (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) in which we provide our students with integrated lessons to maximize exposure and engagement. Teachers and students at our school are part of a unique learning environment.

We are breaking barriers and building futures!

My students are eager to work with technology and their hands to create. These skills are essential as they are the innovators, creators, and thinkers of the future.

My Project

These materials will make a difference in student's nutrition and health learning. Jump ropes will be used similar to the Jump for Rope for heart fundraiser, but without participating in the event. Students will use the tally counters to count how many times they can jump during an allocated amount of time. Students will track their progress throughout the month of how many successful jumps they've completed.

Let's be smart, track your heart!

Students will use tally counters to count how many times their hearts beat before and after an activity/exercise. Students will learn about the heart and aerobic capacity as drawn out in 1st grade PE standards. Students will also learn about nutrition and healthy foods through games and posters.
