Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I support amazing students who are learning to love writing. We enter poetry contests and use semicolons. We write affirmations for peers and short stories. Essays abound in our classroom.
A nice pen or pencil makes a huge difference for some students.
It seems silly, but there is a difference between using a borrowed golf pencil and having your own mechanical pencil, just like everyone else.
Some of my students struggle with basic supplies and instead of making a trip to an office or supplies center, I make bags of pencils and pens to give them (and sometimes highlighters) so they can feel included and valued.
