This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The pandemic was terrible for many reasons. One lasting effect we see in classrooms is a gap in reading skills. Students across the country fell behind and now we are taking up the task of supporting them. We need to grow two grade levels in one year. It is possible, but we need to return to the fundamental skills of reading and writing.
Annotating and close reading helps students fill in learning gaps.
Sticky notes, colorful pencils, and regular pencils are our tools to make it happen. Like so many classroom supplies, these are consumables with a purpose. We need to refresh our stocks because when things are going well, they get used up!
