Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are energetic and very curious. They enjoy school and learning using all their senses. They are all learning English as a second language. My students attend school in the innercity. The school is nestled among railroad tracks and factories. All of my students qualify for federally funded lunches. They have insufficient resources yet are the most generous.
My students are thirsty for knowledge.
They love to feel like scientists. They're fascinated with the life cycle of animals and plants. They are always ready to learn, and despite their short comings they always try their very best.
My Project
My students need notebooks and Primary Pencils for daily writing activities. Small fingers require thicker pencils and crayons to build their dexterity. Having pencils that are easy to grip with strengthen their grip and produce better penmanship.
I am requesting Post-It notes for students to use during their close reading to add questions, things that resonated with them, or even things they are unsure of.
This will help them increase their reading comprehension.
Additionally, I am requesting highlighters for each of my students. These highlighters will help them when solving math problems. They will use them to highlight the important number and words in a problem. Helping them break down a problem for better understanding and aiding in solving.
