My students need balance beams so that they can participate in the sport of gymnastics.

My Students
My students attend a Title I school in the outskirts of a big city. Approximately 71% of my students receive a free or reduced-price lunch. My students are very diverse, creating an interest in many physical activities.
As a teacher, it is exciting to walk into a classroom where students are eager to learn any sport, lifetime activity, and physical fitness concept.
I want to teach activities that come from my students' diverse cultures to create a culturally diverse learning environment.
My Project
My students currently learn the sport of gymnastics with one balance beam and tape as pretend balance beams. During the lesson, students might only get to use the balance beam a couple times. How can I expect them to get much better with such little practice time? I want to increase the engagement of my gymnastics unit by providing more opportunity to practice. We know when anyone practices more often, they will be able to get better.
I am going to network with the local gymnastics centers, in hopes they can come provide some special gymnastics lessons to my students.
With having the equipment at my school, the students would be able to practice the skills more often. The overall goal is to see if we can get some of our students partnered with the local gymnastics centers. As a quality Physical Education teacher, I want to get my students active in the community!
